3d Computer Glasses Are the 3D glasses nVIDIA is selling simply a more expensive version of the disposable ones?
I have a few pairs of 3D glasses from when I saw Avatar. Would they work with a 3D computer monitor?
Nope. They are COMPLETELY different.
The nVidia 3DVision glasses are shutter glasses. They alternate shutting the left and right eyepieces 60 times a second. This is synchronized to a 120Hz display that alternates between displaying a right-side-view and a left-side-view 120 times a second, so that the left eye sees only the left-side-view and the right eye sees only the right-side-view to give the illusion of 3D.
The movie theater glasses are just simple color filters that filter out the color image meant for one eye but not the other (the left-side-view is filmed in one color while the right-side-view is filmed in another color). It will NOT work with filtering alternating frames like the nVidia 3DVision.
Is there a way to make my computer screen 3d or is the only way to see 3D film on my pc only with glasses?
First you can only watch 3d on your monitor or television in the anaglyph (red and blue) 3d format because they can not do the other 3d formats right now. Second the video must be in the anaglyph 3d format. Third, you will need the red and blue anaglyph 3d glasses.
There is a television that can do 3d without glasses but you must buy a television made to do that because it has to have special mirrors put into each pixel so the images are reflected to the correct eye. Phillips was making one that used wowvx, but has stopped production for now until 3d for home becomes more avaliable.
