Mounts for Video Cameras?
You know those mounts that they use in movies where they can rotate around someones head or a certain object smoothly? What is the name of that mount, and where could I purchase one? Another I am wondering about is where the camera travels in a straight path for a distance, but can also turn on the mount. Thank you!
It depends how the shot is set up. What is your budget?

The camera could be mounted to a tripod on wheels or a dolly on a track... or it could be mounted to a SteadyCam/GlideCam vest system or a few more ways.

This could be done a bunch of different ways similar to the above, too... including mounting the camera to guide cables - like they use at pro football games ("SkyCam").
How it is done will be dictated by the ground - How level is it? Can someone walk it or are wheels needed or a leveled dolly-track? Is it so bumpy that the ground can't be used?
There are some camera crane systems that *might* do a few of the methods... Check the Kessler camera cranes and accessories. Their crane is geat - as is the heavy duty tripod... and the tripod wheels can be replaced with special wheels that use their track system - and you can add a seat to the tripod (yes - it is that strong - I've stood and jumped on mine and it is rock solid). It isn't cheap, but the best affordable crane rig I've used.
