   In relation to kids and the media, we have typically been told that children who are exposed to too much media at too young an age are susceptible to issues later in life, such as violence or promiscuity. In fact, video games have often been blamed for the rash of school shootings that happened in the late 90’s, although these claims have never really been substantiated.

   Today, however, children who aren’t exposed to media are somewhat at a disadvantage because there is such a vast wealth of knowledge available, especially on the Internet. According to an article on Teach Kids How!, “The information highway is a great resource for school age children to obtain information for a variety of school related and personal issues. No matter what they are looking for, your children will find it on the Internet, but it’s important they know how to look for the things they need to know.”

   Your blog about Webkinz is a great example for how even the simplest of toys are becoming multimedia items. From what I understand about Webkinz, a child can register their Webkinz online and “manage” their pets in a virtual world, all while being supervised by their parents, of course. I think that this product is a great way to introduce younger children to the Internet because the product is tame and simple and will help children learn and understand more about technology, which will prove to be incredibly important to their education as they get older.

   I used to play meez all the time until I discovered a site called Frenzoo. On this site you can create a design your own clothing, hairstyles, graphics, backgrounds, and so much more. The best part is, it is free, you dont have to download it, and the staff is always willing to assist you with any questions you have. I have made friends with some of the staff by chatting with them online. check it out. I hope this helps!
