Where can I find high-resolution historic maps (pre-1900), of mines/geologic features, available for download?

I'm doing a short report on the history of remote sensing applications in geology and I just want some maps before the use of remote sensing (pre-1900s) to show the difference between maps done from the ground, versus aerial photographs/satellite photographs. I'd really like some high resolution images for my powerpoint (this is for school only/nothing commercial). It'd really help in drawing comparisons.
Thanks much!!!
