McCann’s. Is there a strong smell of burning martyr?
Before you ask, I am neither Pro nor Anti McCann (to use the terms in common usage here) but I am dismayed at the hugely prejudiced points of view that some people here seem to be taking. Is this really a reflection of our society? Do we really believe that we know all the answers when in fact we in reality have almost none of the facts? Are we prepared to damn a parent because he has a round of golf?
Or is it the fact that the McCann’s are wealthier than many posters here that has lead to the baying of blood and the electronic assembly of the virtual lynch mob? Does this boil down to the same self righteous indignation and good old fashioned British bigotry and hate filled envy that fuelled the anti hunting brigade?
Like every single one of you, I truly don’t know what happened, but I do believe that we have lost our respect for the British principle of fair play and the assumption that someone is innocent until proved guilty.
Am I wrong?
