Where should i apply for my next job given my skill set?
I am a sophomore in college, I currently work for a big corporation, I have had a year of experience already, I know skills like Pro/E, Auto CAD, I can run Virtual Reality simulations, etc. So i have very specific skills, and i am learning a lot at this corporation. The only problem is money, i get paid $9.75 an hour. It is not enough, i cant pay my bills, and i feel like a person with my qualifications should be paid more. I need some kind of a job that either uses my skills, or need something that doesn't take a lot of time for training (6 months tops):or i just need another job.
First I would ask them for a raise which reflects your worth to the company. It could be that there are a lot of people about with the same skills which would make you less valuable. If they do not give you the raise then give notice but wait until you are in the middle of an important project. The UK has the same problems, some employers will only pay the bare minimum. In fact in the UK you would be earning less than the legal minimum wage.
